The Application

A bakery manufacturer was experiencing repeated seal failures on their jam depositing equipment. The high viscosity of the jam, combined with the temperatures involved and the cleaning chemicals used, was degrading the OEM seals within weeks of installation.

Our Solution

We specified a different polymer compound with significantly better chemical resistance and thermal stability. The seal profile was redesigned to account for the high-viscosity pumping action and the pressure differentials specific to depositing equipment.

The Outcome

The new seals lasted months rather than weeks. The customer reduced their unplanned downtime significantly and eliminated the emergency callout costs associated with mid-shift seal failures.
