A single seal fragment can cost millions
In 2016, a single piece of plastic from a protective cover in a factory in the Netherlands triggered a recall of 20 million chocolate bars across 55 countries. The estimated cost was over 12 million euros. The component was not even a seal, but the principle is the same: any foreign body in a food production line represents catastrophic risk.
Metal detectable seals provide a safety net. The materials contain food-safe additives that are visible to the metal detection equipment already installed on your production line. In the event of seal wear or failure, any fragments are caught before they reach the consumer.
