The Application
A food manufacturer running continuous extrusion processing at elevated temperatures was replacing seals more frequently than their maintenance schedule allowed. The heat was degrading the seal material faster than expected.
Our Solution
We selected a high-temperature polymer with better thermal stability and lower compression set at the operating temperature. The seal profile was optimised for the specific pressure and speed characteristics of the extruder.
The Outcome
The new seals maintained their sealing properties at the full operating temperature range, bringing replacement intervals back in line with the planned maintenance schedule.
